Nextin college
11th A
The classroom buzzed with activity—some students were busy with homework, others gossiped in groups, while a boy at the last bench remained lost in his own world, ignoring everything around him. His peaceful escape was soon interrupted by hushed voices nearby.
"I heard she is very beautiful."
"But why would she transfer to this college?"
"I think she must have done something big."
Just then, a girl stood up from her desk and snapped, "You all have nothing better to do? She just joined, and you've already started gossiping. Just shut up, all of you."
"Maseera, calm down. We won’t disturb you now," another girl from the group said, trying to pacify her.
The boy at the back listened to their conversation but didn’t bother turning his face towards them. Moments later, the bell rang, and the teacher entered with a girl.
"Good morning, sir," the students greeted.
"Good morning, everyone. We have a new student joining us today," the teacher announced before turning to the girl. "Please introduce yourself."
"Good morning, everyone. My name is Mehtab Malik," she said.
The class greeted her back, but while some admired her beauty, others exchanged jealous glances.
"Mehtab, take a seat at the back, and everyone, remain silent. I’ll be back after a quick visit to the principal’s office," the teacher said as he started to leave.
From the back, a boy named Arshad smirked and called out, "Kyun sir, abhi tak aapko salary nahi mili kya?"
(Why haven’t you received your salary yet, sir?)
Laughter erupted across the room.
The teacher’s face darkened. "Quiet! And Arshad, meet me in the staff room later." With that, he walked out.
Mehtab made her way to the back and stopped near the sleeping boy.
"Excuse me," she said.
The boy blinked awake and gave her a confused look.
"Can I sit here?" she asked.
Instead of answering, he simply turned away and laid back down.
Before she could say anything, Maseera stepped in. "It's okay, you can sit with me."
"Thank you," Mehtab said with a small smile before taking the seat beside her.
